In-House Training (Thailand)
As in past years, the Institute of Food Research and Product Development (IFPRD), at Kasetsart University, is working with Australian presenters from FoodStream to offer industry training in Thailand.
For public events being offered at Kasetsart University, Bangkok this year see our Events page.
In-House Company Training Also Available
While in Thailand, the two Australian presenters are also available to present customised training (or project work) for companies in relevant technical areas.
Presentations are in English.
Location
Training can be presented at your premises or using facilities at IFPRD.
Training Available
Available course areas are listed. See attached for additional information (content and therefore length can be customised to company requirements)
Breakfast Cereals Technology
Covering the range of operations involved in the manufacture of breakfast cereals, including core technologies such as flaking, puffing, and extrusion, and pre- and post- processing operations such as cooking, preconditioning, drying/toasting, and coating. (One day).
Feed Manufacturing Technology (or Pellet Milling Technology)
Relating to the production of stock and aqua feeds. Covers pellet milling technology, basic extrusion processing, and related pre- and post-processing operations. (Normally two days, or one day pellet milling only)
Food Water Activity
Provides practical knowledge of water activity in foods, its relevance to storage and shelf life, and formulating products based on Water Activity. (One day, often combined with Drying Technology below)
Food Drying Technology
Principles of drying and practical application in food drying processes. Improving existing processes and design/specification of new dryers. (One day program, often combined with Water Activity above)
Retort (Canning) Process Design
This course provides participants with the knowledge and understanding to develop and validate retort/canning processes, covering both the General Method and Ball’s Method. Instrumentation used in monitoring retort systems, and measurement of temperature distribution in retorts, will also be covered.
Retort Supervisors Course
Retort/canning technology principles and practical application. Focused at an introductory level and for those needing to understand the reasons and importance of properly monitoring retort processes. (Three days plus any assessment, can be reduced for introductory level)
Food Engineering Principles and Practical Applications
For food technologists, scientists, and engineers wishing to improve their skills in areas such as heat transfer, heat and mass balances, food rheology, utilisation of steam, fluid transfer/pumping and psychrometrics. (One or two day program, can be extended to a third to focus specifically on relevant factory processes)
Extruder Operator Training
Provide background understanding to assist supervisors and operational staff manufacture consistently to high quality standards. (One or two days)
Extruder Die Design
Specialist program - the theory and practice of designing dies for extrusion systems. (One or two days)
Presenters
Presenters visiting Thailand in July include:
Dennis Forte — Chemical engineer highly experience in extrusion technology and related areas such as breakfast cereal production, pet and animal feed manufacture. Also drying and general food engineering.
Gordon Young — Food process engineer specialising in thermal processing (qualified and highly experienced as a “Process Authority”) and drying technology. Also a background in extrusion and general food engineering.
Timing
Limited opportunities available in the period 8 to 26 July 2019. Timing needs to be organised to interface with other commitments in Thailand, so if you are interested please contact us as soon as possible and we can discuss potential timing.
What to do if you are interested
Contact us with information on the program/s of interest, preferred timing, what you wish to achieve through the training, and venue (your factory or IFRPD at Kasetsart University). You may wish to use the Expression of Interest form below. We will respond with a proposed program and cost – which of course can be modified/refined according to your needs.
If the timing doesn't suit, or you do not have enough participants for a separate course, please contact us as we may be able to offer other opportunities eg a program combined with another company.
Who to Contact
The training is organised by Food Industry Engineering (FiE) in association with IFPRD. Please use the form below to send up information on your requirements. Or for further information visit our Contact page or the information below.
